I have already done so much to be thankful for, but still, I am hungry for more… I love playing volleyball. Since my 7th birthday it’s my passion. Over the past 18 years, it helped me through some really tough times, but it has given me some pretty good ones too! I am blessed with a loving family who have supported me every step of the way.
At the age of 22 I started a new chapter by ending my indoor career and only play beachvolleyball, and with succes! After just one year I already exceeded my expectations by playing almost every semi final at the dutch national tour and winning 5 medals (3 silver and 2 bronze)!
With my ambitions and mentality I am, besides a good beachvolleyball player, a great influencer for your business. I have already proved to be an effective brand associations. I take my fans with me on my journey to Paris. With the ups and downs that come on the road. Perseverance is my best characteristic, therefore I can say “The best is yet to come”.

Afgelopen weekend werd er in Zutphen gevolleybald op het zand. Met name de vrouwen hadden een enorm sterk bezet deelnemersveld. De hele Nederlandse top en subtop was aanwezig. Ook was er weer buitenlandse inbreng. Bij de heren was er deelname van de vaste kern topteams in de eredivisie en ook hier waren er buitenlandse bezoekers. De winst ging bij de mannen naar de Belgen Colson en Deroey en bij de vrouwen ging de winst naar van Iersel en Stubbe.
In de halve finales bij de dames stond de hele Nederlandse top op het programma. Zo kwam Keizer/Meppelink in actie tegen Bloem/Sinnema. En de uitslag mag toch wel verrassend genoemd worden, de wedstrijd ging met 2-0 naar Bloem/Sinnema. Daarmee waren de Europees kampioenen uitgeschakeld. De andere halve finale was een redelijk makkelijke prooi voor van Iersel/Stubbe. Zij waren duidelijk een maatje te groot voor de Spanjaarden Fernandez Navarro en Lobato.
De finale werd een prachtige strijd tussen Van Iersel/Stubbe en Bloem/Sinnema. Van Iersel/Stubbe pakte overtuigend de eerste set, maar Bloem/Sinnema kwam op karakter terug in de wedstrijd. Ze wonnen de tweede set met 23-21. Dat setverlies bracht Van Iersel/Stubbe niet van de wijs, gedecideerd werd de derde set gepakt met 15-11. Keizer/Meppelink completeerden het podium door de gasten uit Spanje te verslaan in de kleine finale.
Bij de mannen was er ook buitenlandse inbreng in de halve finale. Het Belgische team Colson/Deroey wist in een spannende driesetter te winnen van Bouter/Penninga. Na een hele ruime 10-21 konden ze dat niveau niet vasthouden. De Belgen trokken met 15-13 aan het langste eind in de beslissende set. In de andere halve finale was er winst voor van der Ham/Nijeboer. Zij wisten, ook in een driesetter, Boehlé/Boermans af te troeven.
Qua spanning was de finale bij de mannen een deceptie. De bezoekers uit België waren veel te sterk voor van der Ham/Nijeboer. En daarmee was er weer een buitenlandse inbreng dat er vandoor ging met een titel in de ‘Nederlandse’ eredivisie. Boehlé/Boermans mochten de laagste trede van het podium beklimmen.

Afgelopen weekend was de eredivisie beachvolleybal in Heerenveen te aanschouwen. En daar werden verhitte gevechten geleverd. Niet alleen vanwege het volleybal, maar vooral ook vanwege de tropische temperaturen. Bij de mannen werden bijvoorbeeld zeer zware wedstrijden in de halve finale gespeeld en bij de vrouwen was er wederom een nieuwe winnaar!
De eerste halve finale bij de mannen werd gespeeld tussen Bouter/Penninga en van der Ham/Nijeboer. De eerste set ging heel makkelijk naar van der Ham/Nijeboer, er leek geen vuiltje aan de lucht. Maar Bouter/Penninga knokte zich knap terug in de wedstrijd door winst in de tweede set. En dus moest de derde set de beslissing brengen, die ging toch wel weer relatief simpel naar van der Ham/Nijeboer.
De tweede halve finale werd gespeeld tussen Blom/de Groot en Boehlé/Boermans. Ook hier werd het een slopende halve finale in de Friese hitte. Na twee sets was ook in deze wedstrijd in balans. De derde set ging uiteindelijk met ruime cijfers naar Boehlé/Boermans.
De finale werd gewonnen door Boehlé/Boermans. Het leek een beetje alsof er met krachten was gesmeten in de halve finales, want de finale was toch minder spannend. Toch een prestatie van formaat voor Boehlé/Boermans, want de omstandigheden waren zwaar. De finaleteams werden op het podium vergezeld door Blom/de Groot.
Bij de dames zagen we wat bekende namen in de halve finales, maar ook nieuwe namen. De eerste halve finale werd gespeeld tussen van Driel/Schoon en Stam/Wouters. Teams die het eigenlijk het hele eredivisieseizoen al goed doen. Via 15-12 in de derde set ging de winst naar van Driel/Schoon.
De andere halve finale werd gespeeld tussen Bloem/Sinnema en Van Driel/Reinders. Beide teams hadden we nog niet eerder in de halve finales gezien dit seizoen. Bloem/Sinnema hadden weinig te duchten van hun tegenstanders en gingen relatief simpel naar de finale.
In die finale lieten ze zien waarom zij het grootste gedeelte van het seizoen in het buitenland bivakkeren, want ze waren duidelijk een maatje te groot voor van Driel/Schoon. Het werd 21-17 en 21-12. De kleine finale werd gewonnen door Stam/Wouters, dus zij maakten het vrouwenpodium compleet.
Heerenveen kijkt terug op een heel heel volleybalweekend met prachtige winnaars!

Dit weekend werd het tweede eredevisie weekend gespeeld in de Nederlandse beachcompetitie. En die leverde meteen andere winnaars op dan vorige week. Dat laat zien hoe breed de Nederlandse (sub)top in het beachvolleyballen is. Bij de mannen ging de winst naar Boehlé/Boermans en bij de vrouwen was de winst voor Stam/Wouters.
Bij de mannen stonden er gerenommeerde namen in de halve finales. In de eerste wedstrijd nam Blom/de Groot het op tegen van der Ham/Nijeboer. Het werd een ruime overwinning voor van der Ham/Nijeboer via 21-12 en 21-17. De tweede halve finale was een stuk spannender. Boehlé/Boermans won in een slopende driesetter van van Steenis/Vismans. De moesten de eerste set nog aan de tegenstanders laten via 25-27, maar de volgende twee sets waren voor de uiteindelijke winnaars via 21-15 en 15-10.
De finale was een wedstrijd met twee gezichten. De eerste set werd ruim gewonnen door van der Ham/Nijeboer, maar Boehlé/Boermans toonden wederom veerkracht en wonnen de tweede set. De derde set was enorm spannend, maar uiteindelijk trokken Boehlé/Boermans aan het langste eind door met 17-15 te winnen. Het brons ging deze keer naar Blom/de Groot.
Bij de dames ging de eerste halve finale tussen van Driel/Schoon en van Gestel/Wesselink. De eerste set werd maar nipt gewonnen door van Driel/Schoon, maar in de tweede set werd van Gestel/Wesselink compleet zoek gespeeld. In de andere halve finale won Stam/Wouters van Piersma/Ypma. Er was daarmee dus revanche op de verloren finale van vorige week.
De finale was een mooie wedstrijd voor de neutrale toeschouwer. De wedstrijd duurde drie sets en uiteindelijk stapte Stam/Wouters al winnaar van het veld. Zij wonnen de derde set met 15-12. Er werd nog een bizar lange strijd gevoerd voor de bronzen plak. Ook hier moest er een derde set aan te pas komen. Deze werd pas bij 28-26! Beslist in het voordeel van van Gestel/Wesselink.
Mooie wedstrijden en mooie resultaten in deze tweede ronde in Heerlen. Volgende week verhuist de eredivisie naar Utrecht. Wellicht zullen daar opnieuw andere teams bovenaan de ranglijst staan, we melden u uiteraard de resultaten.

World Tour 1* event Götenburg (SWE)
The beach season has finally started! It’s been a long winter, with an intense training program.
I found a new and great blocker in Jannes van der Ham. We’ve been practicing a lot in the last weeks before this last indoor tournament (before the start of the summer).
We placed ourselves 9th in the qualification, this meant we had to play England in the first round. The plan we made worked from the start, we just made to much mistakes ourself. In set number 2 and 3 we were able to reach our level and stick to the plan. Endresult; 2-1 (18-21, 21-16, 15-13)
In round 2 we were facing Italy. A team similar to us, a young and tough team. We started the set very dominant with a good plan. The Italians stroke back in the second set. Therefore we had to play another 3rd setter, which the Italians weren’t going to give away. It was very close till around 10-10, when the Italians stept up their game. Endresult; 1-2 (23-21, 13-21, 11-21)
This means we finished 17th in Götenborg.
Next tournament will be the DELA eredivisie in Breda.

In the last game of the qualiffication tournament Stef landed on the boarding, and broke his arm. Because we both didn’t think it was that bad, we played on (and won the match).
Unfortionatly we had to withdraw the next day, because of the pain.

WEVZA Zonal Tour Ravenna (ITA)
Because of Jaspers knee injury I would play the rest of the season with Stef Hofman. One of the boys from the national program (where I have trained with this winter).
We started driving to Ravenna (Italy) on Wednesday the 25th. The reason we wanted to drive to Ravenna is because our next tournament was planned the next weekend in Ljubljana, just 4 hour from Ravenna.
We were seeded 4th in the main draw, this meant we were in a pool with Monaco and Italy. These teams were teams we have never played against. The main draw started on Saturday, and we started off- with the match against Monaco around 12.00. The weather conditions where really hot, but in the end we were the best team to coop with that. Monaco was deviated with 2-0 (21-16, 21-13). The final pool match was scheduled around 17.30. This meant we had some time to get back to our hotel, eat something, put on our ZeroPoint recovery tight and get some rest before our second pool match. We lost this match with 0-2, due to too many unforced errors. We ended second in our pool and had to play Gabriele/Boesso (ITA) on Sunday.
So on Sunday we played the last quarter final of the day (11.15 local time). Very unlucky for Stef, in the first point, he dislocated his finger (we thought). After a 5 minute medical time-out we could continue the match, were (after an hour) we came out as the winners (2-1; 21-19, 15-21, 15-10)! Because we played the last quarter final we had to play the semis only 40 minutes later. After a quick protein shake from Flinndal we already had to warm up. In this match we simply didn’t play good enough and couldn’t pull any of the sets our way.
Luckely for us we had 2 hours of rest between the semi-final and the 3rd place match. We played against Morichelli/Galli M. This was the Italian team we lost against in our pool… We know how we had to play and that we had to play better then in our pool. Slowly a lot of Italians gathered around the centre court in Ravenna. The first set went with 21-17 to the Italians. But we were able to fight back and take the second set (21-15). The third set was really tight, both teams made some really good plays. We created 3 matchpoint, but didn’t get a swing for the match. In the end the Italians won with 20-18.
This tournament will be one of the highlights of my summer! We’ve made some good progress during this tournament and know where we have to work on. When we got back in the Netherlands, Stef went to the hospital to make some photos of his finger and it turns out it was never dislocated, but broken. The next day he got surgery and he’ll be out of the running for another 4 weeks. After that we’ll pick everything up where we left off!

World Tour 1* event Langkawi (MAS)
As most of you already know, after my last tournament in Shepparton with Pim Heurman, we talked about the game and our future together. Pim chose to go with retirement and I had to start a new chapter. A couple of weeks passed by before I had my plan all figured out.
The next step to being competitive was finding a good ambitious partner. I found this in Jasper Niewold. We’re both very ambitious and willing to work hard!
Looking into the calendar we saw an opportunity in Asia for getting more international point (especially for Jasper). Besides the well-needed international points it was a great test where we stand after practicing for 8 weeks together. In those 8 weeks a lot has been going on. One thing is, I signed a sponsor deal with Flinndal Sport. They give me all the supplements I need to stay fit. This way we have more energy during practice and we can recover quicker! So we are ready for Jaspers first World Tour tournament!
We booked a 22 hour fight to Langkawi island (Malaysia). Which should’ve started at 15.20 at Schiphol Airport. You probably already feel it coming… Eventually we flew around 17.45, leaving not much time to catch our next flight in Dubai. It a good thing that all of our planes had a delay for at least one hour… (not)
Being in Langkawi we practiced in the next couple of days with some different foreign teams and got to see some of the island, where, on Thursday we finally got to play. We were seeded 9th in the qualification, this meant we had to battle against our Eastern neighbours (Germany). To make the match at 8.30 (local time) even more interesting its started to rain (it’s a good thing we’re used to this weather). The Germans kept a constant pressure on us, in which we couldn’t get out of. Because of this we couldn’t get in our rhythm. The same happened in the second set, Karpa/Sievers kept the pressure on us and started very quickly with a 5 point lead, but we managed to fight back. And we went into the technical timeout with a score of 10-11. After the technical timeout the Germans where not giving this set away. Before we knew it, it was set and match point. 
With this 2-0 loss in the qualification we were out of the tournament. Both of us are very disappointed by how we played, it’s a good thing the young Dutchies held the honour high by reaching the women finals!
In two weeks we’ll start with the national tour in the Netherlands! Looking forward to Vlissingen.

World Tour 1* event Shepparton (AUS)
After the good tournament we played in Aalsmeer (NED), we where ready to get back on the court as soon as possible. After signing up for the World Tour in Shepparton and finding a sponsor willingly to pay for our journey, we could start our 30 hour trip and continue our good work we showed in the World Tour of Aalsmeer.
In Shepparton we spend the first 3 days practising with beachteam Dollinger/Kulzer from Germany, and ofcourse adapting to the cold, windy conditions (witch we luckely didn’t have when the tournement started). The first game was scheduled on the first of february at 23.40 (9.40 local time), against the young Aussies Nicolaides/Landers. I was pummed up and ready to go, apparently so where the Aussies… Especially the first set we couldn’t get any grip on their serve. The first half of the second set was pretty close and we went into the technical time-out with just one point behind (10-11). After the technical time-out, the Aussies put on the pressure again with their serve. With this 2-0 loss we’re out of the tournament and time to lick our wounds and see what the rest of this season has to offer.
I just want to thank everyone for supporting us buring this short, but beautifull experience! We’ll be spending the last 3 days in Melbourne to enjoy this beautifull country!

Last summer I was able to participate and compete in the international tour. I have experienced how close I am to being competitive. But I also closely looked at the steps that I still have to take to achieve my ultimate goal. The Olympic Games of 2024 in Paris.
I know that that step can not be taken at once and that I have to start at the beginning. This is why I fully choose to focus on my beach volleyball career. The first step is: A solid foundation.
Talent alone is no longer enough. I have to be able to make hours. And those hours must contain high quality beach volleyball. In recent weeks, I have been thinking a lot about how my foundation should ideally be. I gathered advice and I know what I need at this stage to be able to take the next step.
To perform better on a national level, it is nice to stay overnight before of the tournament. In addition to these costs, you still have registration costs and costs for food.
Besides the fact that foreign tournaments are very informative, there are many costs involved such as flight ticket, hotel costs, taxi costs and food.
In return I will send you an extensive competition report, wear a band with your logo and you will receive the singlet.
In order to start a match in a tournament I must be strong both physically and mentally. Mental guidance should help me for optimal preparation for heavy training, competition (situations) and setbacks.
